5 reasons why you should ditch the ballroom

With so much inspiration for your big day it is more than likely you are overwhelmed with all the possibilities available to you and how to bring your vision for your dream wedding to life.  What if, for a moment you stepped away from the tradition and the expectation of what you feel your wedding should be and dreamed for a moment about the possibility of taking your wedding outside of the typical ballroom.  We at The Romanticist Studios feel that it is time to ditch the ballroom and think outside the box and we have compiled our top 5 reasons why you should!

Reason 1: Your guests will talk about it FOREVER!

I mean really...if you think anybody will remember your perfectly aligned Chiavari chairs or how your florals were so lush, forget it! Guests (no matter how many) just want to have a good time and celebrate with friends and family around them.  How amazing would it be to give your guests an extra special experience not only of celebrating the love you have for each other but to take them on that magical journey with you to say the IceHotel in Sweden!  That is sure to be something guests would talk about for years to come!

Reason 2: Your honeymoon is covered!

That goes without explaining...if you bring your crew to Cinque Terre in Italy, there would be no reason to go anywhere else for your honeymoon. Keep the excitement of going to a new place by just taking the local train to another one of the 5 villages that make up the unique destination of Cinque Terre.  Eliminate the stress before your wedding by lounging on the beach or doing some sightseeing, eating at local restaurants and just being present in the moment while the pros handle everything else!  To learn more about Cinque Terre, check out our post from our Wedding Wanderlust series here!

Reason 3:  Make Your Fairytale Wedding a Reality

Thinking outside the box and leaving some of those traditions behind can really allow you to live out your fairytale wedding and bring it to life.  As a child did you dream about Cinderella and getting married in a castle? Did you dream about getting married on a mountaintop or or under a canopy of lights or in a beautiful home in Paris? All of these things can become reality if you make the decision to ditch the ballroom and run with your ideas.

Reason 4: You will Create Lasting Memories and have a Million Stories to Tell

Even though traditional weddings create many lasting memories, travelling and spending more than just a day with family and friends can really create some special moments and stories that can be passed down for generations.

Reason 5: You Can Still Wear a Ballgown

Don't think that because you are holding your wedding outside of a ballroom or even outside in general that it means you can't wear the biggest ballgown you can find! Your location doesn't necessarily dictate what type of dress you wear, just need some aadjustments (like a flowy ballgown instead a a suoer stiff one).

It is your day and you can wear your dream gown no matter where you hold your wedding. You can dance if you want to... :)

Branding Shoot | Christine Dore Trant

A brand or editorial photo shoot comes together much like a swan gliding across a lake: above the water, the elegant neck curves gracefully and the feathers barely flutter. Below the water is a different story: strong legs and purposeful flippers work diligently to guide the scene above.

Follow along as the team shares insights on all aspects of creating a branding shoot. The first step is (always) inspiration and Christine shared the first steps of the process HERE

In planning for Christine Dore Trants branding shoot, we started with discussing her business and her ideal clients. Once we’d defined the inspiration for the shoot, I got to work pulling together all of the different elements that would best showcase Christine’s business and personality.

First, we collaborated on a shared Pinterest board to pull together the looks, colors, and practical aspects of the shoot. I asked Christine to share three or four tools she uses regularly as a part of her business, as well as any images she had come across that she felt reflected her style.

Once I had a good sense of Christine’s business, style, and hands-on tools, I included pins in our shared board of how we could visualize all of the aspects of Christine’s brand, including the feelings of comfort and ease that are so important to what she does.

During our planning call, Christine mentioned the inspiration for her website and company branding (created by Courtney Kirkland of Sweet Southern Media) was derived from her favorite places, things, and collections as a reflection of her personality in her brand. This aspect is especially important to her because her name is also her business name. To incorporate those items into her branded shoot, I asked her to bring along the depression glassware, antique mason jars, and any other brand-colored items she had at home that would fit well with the aesthetic we’d determined with our Pinterest board.

Once I had the vision for the shoot in place, I reached out to Ellysia Francovitch to photograph the shoot. Her work with styled food and commercial photography, as well as portraits, made her a perfect fit for this shoot. In order to showcase Christine’s client focus and individualized projects, I wanted to include another model in our shoot to visualize those aspects of her business. I also wanted to incorporate Christine’s writing into her branded imagery. Kate Yenrick of Yennygrams was the perfect addition to the team--she modeled as Christine’s client and created beautiful calligraphy to be styled and photographed.

As the day approached, I created a mood board to guide our day as well as a detailed shot list. I shared those files with the team to get us all on the same page before they even walked in the door!

Shooting day is always a little bit chaotic as we all try to come together in a few hours. Ellysia shared a step by step of the day HERE

Take a look at some of the beautiful and totally on brand pictures we created for her new site:

Wedding Wanderlust - Paris

There is no denying the fact that Parisian culture seems to have been hand crafted for love and romance.  Is it really even a wonder why Paris is known as "The City of Love" all over the world? This naturally makes it a sought after location for weddings and intimate elopements and is the second city we are exploring in our Wedding Wanderlust Series.

Paris is the capital and most populous city in France boasting some of the world's most visited landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower of course, the Louvre, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur and Momartre.

The possibilities for a destination wedding in Paris are endless.  Whether your are choosing a more formal affair in one of the amazing cathedrals or something more casual along the Seine river, Paris has something for everyone.

So many ways to make your wedding dreams a reality!  Want to do something out of the box, think about a wedding on a luxurious boat while you tour your guests around Paris or making your fairytale wedding come true and hold your wedding in one of the many Castles on a vineyard on the outskirts on the city.

Feeling like an intimate elopement is more your style, don't think that Paris is only for large, luxurious weddings.  You will find some of the most beautiful ballrooms you have ever seen and some of the most luxurious hotels around that would be the perfect backdrop for your elopement with a small number of family and friends.

Don't think that you wedding has to be held close to home, the memories you could create by taking your wedding abroad to celebrate in the most romantic city in the world would be something you and your guests would remember for a lifetime.

We love France so much we spend 1 month every year creating styled shoots and weddings all around the country.

The best is because we are already there it is like you are hiring a destination planner for the cost of a local!
